PROJECT OVERVIEW

Project Aim

The project aims to support the systematic integration of Disaster Risk Reduction Education (DRRE) into primary school curricula through an inclusive, cross-curricular STEAME approach.

Objectives

The Main Objectives of the project are:

  • Develop adaptable guidelines for embedding DRRE into existing curriculum subjects and learning activities.
  • Design inclusive STEAME-DRRE activities that strengthen pupils’ knowledge, preparedness, problem-solving skills and responsible behaviour.
  • Train and support teachers in designing and implementing curriculum-aligned DRRE activities through inquiry-based, collaborative and digital approaches.
  • Pilot and evaluate the developed framework and activities in schools in Cyprus and Greece.
  • Raise awareness among schools, educational authorities and wider communities about the importance of disaster prevention, preparedness and resilience.

Project Priorities

The Priorities addressed by the project are:

  • Integrating Disaster Risk Reduction Education into primary school curricula
  • Strengthening pupils’ knowledge, preparedness, resilience and life skills
  • Empowering teachers to design and implement STEAME-DRRE learning activities
  • Promoting inclusive, inquiry-based and digitally supported education
  • Raising awareness of natural hazards, climate change and community safety
